Project Synopsis (in process)

Using my senior thesis as a generative text, this dance piece will inquire further into the theoretical questions posed within the thesis. One of those ideas is the imagination as a space that has bodily implications. The imagination can affect one’s sense of where the body begins or ends, which is potently seen in the contemporary moment of global informational capitalism—bodies and interactions are increasingly mediated through various forms of information technologies. The interplay between reality and virtuality, played out on both material and virtual bodies, makes Donna Haraway’s cyborg theories useful when asking questions of the imagination. Bodies are phenomenologically re-constituted through interactions with technologies to the point where technologies become not only extensions of our selves and daily experiences, but integral to how bodies are made...
